Protect the Dryer With Proper Filtration

Oil, liquid water and particles can contaminate the desiccant bed. A high-quality pre-filter should be installed upstream, and a dust filter is often used downstream. Replace filter elements on schedule or when pressure drop becomes excessive.

Inspect Switching Valves

Twin-tower desiccant dryers depend on valves to switch adsorption and regeneration cycles. Worn valves can cause air leakage, poor regeneration, unstable pressure or dew point failure.

Monitor Dew Point

A dew point meter helps confirm whether the dryer is performing correctly. If dew point rises, check inlet conditions, purge flow, valves, filters and desiccant condition before assuming the dryer is undersized.

Check Desiccant Condition

Desiccant can lose capacity due to oil contamination, liquid water carryover, dusting or age. Replacement intervals depend on air quality, operation hours and maintenance quality.

Maintain Condensate Removal

Liquid water should be removed before it reaches the desiccant bed. Failed drains can allow water carryover and shorten desiccant life.
